Nina Constantinova Dobreva was born in Sofia, at Bulgaria. She was move to Canada at the age of two and she has lived in Toronto, Ontario ever since. She had showed huge enthusiasm and talent for the art which are Dance, Theatre, Gymnastics, Visual arts, Music, and Acting also modeling jobs led to commercials and then she turned into film auditions and it started from a very young age. Shortly after, she booked roles in the quality films Fugitive Pieces in 2007, Away from Her 2006 and the trendy television series, Degrassi: The Next Generation 2001, on the CTV.

Nina Dobrev loves to travel and has frequently visited Europe both for enjoyment, as well as competing internationally, representing Canada in Aesthetic gymnastics. She get pleasure from playing volleyball, soccer, rock climbing, swimming, snowboarding, wake boarding, and horseback riding.

But, from the above all, acting is only her passion, and she observes it as like  an adventure that has just begun, she trusts that the journey & the characters we make along the way will assist us understand ourselves.

She had studied with Armstrong Acting Studio with her best friends with Matt Lanter and Sara Paxton. From the Aesthetic Group Gymnastics She has competed internationally representing Canada. In 2005, she had joined both the Senior World Championships in Copenhagen and also joined Denmark and the Junior World Championships in Plzen, Czech Republic.

She likes playing Rock Band and engages in water sports and like also swimming, windsurfing, wake boarding, and scuba diving. Nina Dobrev loves to travel and often trip Europe. She traveled to Kenya where she established a school with fellow Degrassi: The Next Generation of 2001 is co-stars through the non-profit organization, Free for The Children. She wore a top promoting the cause near the end of her movie, The American Mall in 2008. 

Nina Dobrev had gone into a general audition for Degrassi.  In 2001, The Next Generation and read the part of Manny. Then later, she had called back, read for the part of Mia, and got the role.She had been sharing an apartment in Atlanta with Kayla Ewell.One of her hobbies is creating jewelry. She plans for the future as if she can start her own jewelry line. Nina Dobrev is normally compared, and also is aware of bearing a resemblance, to Victoria Justice.
